What is it going to be?
2016 has been a year that has left people at a loss for words. Many celebrities have passed away. Vin Scully will no longer be the Dodgers Commentator. Terrorist attacks continue to dishearten and confuse the world, theologically speaking, let alone killing innocent bystanders.
It is easy to say, that everyone is pretty much over 2016. But my question to you is, why will 2017 be different? If we feel that 2017 will be no different, then 2016 will be crowned champion over 2017.
Now, lets look at the Gospel. Jesus said, “I make all things new”. He came to change our focus, to realign our perspective, to give sight to the blind, and hearing to the deaf. That hearing the words of the Gospel would change everything about our future.
I believe many of us have been effected by the poor decisions of our past. I believe some of us have self-disqualified ourselves from experiencing the newness of life that Jesus has to offer. I also believe its time for us to take a stand against our past, and ask the Lord to forgive us of our shortcomings and to restore & redeem what the Locusts have taken.
There are two ways to react to the loss we experienced in 2016. We can either let it rob us of our joy, or we can respond in praise knowing that “all things work for good, to those who love God and are called according to His Purpose”. The thief would love to come steal, kill, and destroy your joy, hope, and purpose. But he has to have your permission.
Friends, 2017 has the potential to be a greatest comeback, second only to the empty grave. Will you stop the skeptical pessimism, the hyper-positive optimism, and just trust Jesus? Will you refocus your attention to what He has to say about you, instead of looking to the comments in the thread as your defining factor? Stop looking at the likes, follows, and those who swiped right, and start looking to the one that Loves you! It’s the greatest decision you will ever make.
Thanks for reading. We love you. We hope you were encouraged. The Ball is in your court, what’s it going to be?
