It is Saturday October 31st. Thirty-four days since we left California and began our trip to Texas.
During the last couple of months, our faith has been stretched beyond belief. Though we have seen many miracles, we have also had to overcome many obstacles. These challenges have made it hard to enjoy a new house, a new community, and even made it hard to look forward to all that God has for us here.
As a family, we have been trying to balance settling in, home school, my virtual training, all while caring for Carol and the pain she has been in. Since early August, she has had pain in her ear which seems to creep into her shoulder, and throughout the left side of her face and head. After visiting many doctors, attending many televisits, and trying many “remedies”, we are still trying to figure out what is causing the pain. We believe it could be TMJ, or a Eustachian Tube Disfunction, or her Trigeminal Nerve acting up. We were able to see a dentist and had Carol fitted for a mouth guard to see if that helps with her pain. We were also able to schedule a visit to the ENT doctor for November 10th. Although we have some things in place that may lead to a solution, the pain she is dealing with has been debilitating.
As a father, and provider of the family, it has been a very trying time. The job I had accepted was interrupted by the reality of testing positive for Covid. Yes, Carol and I both tested positive. Abby and Penelope both seemed unaffected by it, but Lucy did get a fever and a cough which has made its way out of her body. For Carol and I, it has been like having a really bad cold/cough. Although the fever seemed to only last for a couple of days, we still have a cough and some cold symptoms. Today is day 10.
So what is ahead for us? I am not sure. But one thing is for sure, we covet your prayers.
Here are some ways you can pray for us:
- Complete healing from Covid so that we can see the doctors soon.
- Complete healing for Carol.
- Wisdom for the ENT Doctor.
- A Correct Diagnosis.
- Peace that surpasses all of our understanding.
- That the Lord would provide ways to make up lost income.
- Trust the Lord in all our ways.
- He is our Provider.
- Personal Growth
- That God’s presence would be so real to us during this time.
- That we would continue to worship throughout the trials.
- That we would not feel defeated or ripped off.
I wish I could have given you a better report, but this is as good as it gets for now. We know God will see us through, but we would really love for you all to stand in the gap for us.
Thanks so much,
A couple of verses that have really helped us during this time:
2 Cor. 12:9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
1 Peter 4:16 But it is no shame to suffer for being a Christian. Praise God for the privilege of being called by his name!
Romans 8:18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
