TRUMP VS JESUS | Real Hope for my Wife + 3 Daughters
The name “Trump” has saturated my feed the last 24 hours. Actually, I just did a google search, and it seems that there are over 100M more google results for Trump, than there are for Jesus. Normally, this kind of stuff wouldn’t bother me, but then I realized how Christians were using the name “Trump” compared to how they use the name of “Jesus”
During our Church Prayer meeting on Wednesday, we prayed that we would be so bold to preach the name of Jesus. That we would be as bold as lions in sharing the Glorious Saving Gospel of Jesus Christ. Never once, as we prayed for our President, did we pray for boldness to represent him, or boldness to share/retweet all the initiatives he is behind. In fact, we prayed that God would protect him, that God would work in Him, that God would use him for His Glory.
It seems as though our Christian brothers and sisters have begun to voice their endorsement of a 4 to 8 year leader. But not just in passing, it seems that the Church is backing and fully approving of all-things-trump. This doesn’t move me, however, the fact that we are emboldened to share more about our political allegiance in contrast to our spiritual story is very concerning.
As I woke up Saturday morning, all my girls were still asleep. I asked myself, “How can I better represent Jesus to them? How can my actions preach to them what they are to look for in their future husband? How can I prove to them, that their calling is equally valuable to any other male/female on this earth? How can I explain to them why women are marching? Why they are hurting? Why they feel ostracized? Why they feel like their new president doesn’t care about them?”
As I looked through my feed, I realized that most of those women are deeply hurt. The Lesbian couple that got engaged. The Older women asking the question, “Why am I still protesting this”. The Little girls being told to hold up signs. All across the world, women, who have been hurt in some way shape or form, are standing up and voicing their opinion. And all the church can say is “Get over it”.
Church, the name of Jesus is the name above all names. The only name given among men by which we can be saved. Nothing is equal. It has no rival. Nothing comes close to what the name of Jesus can accomplish. So why has another story taken our attention away from that name? Why is the office of president all of a sudden equally important to the office of King? Why is being Pro-Trump more important than being Pro-Jesus?
We need to realize that all the issues being protested about; Women’s Rights, Black Lives Matter, Abortion, Gun Rights, Immigration Issues, etc etc. Can all be fixed if we first ask the “Samaritan Women” of our day for a glass of water and begin to have a conversation. Samaria was never the same because Jesus cared about this adulterous woman, knowing that she would go and tell the Redemptive Story to all the men in her city. He saw past her “feminism, hurt, adultery, promiscuity”, and saw her as an evangelist.
How many women today need to hear more about what Jesus has to offer instead of what Trump or some March has to offer? Trumps water may cure your political thirst for 4 to 8 years. But Jesus said this “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”(John 4:13)
Consider what your endorsing. Think about what your approving. And listen to how Paul encouraged Timothy; “And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will.”
2 Timothy 2:24-26
