I don’t know about you, but there are a lot of people these days showing their political allegiance in a radical way. Many people have attended Church on Sunday, but all they are talking about is the latest WikiLeaks or Audio Files that came to the surface on Monday. Posting, Re-sharing, Retweeting, everything that makes their Candidate Better and their Opponent Worse.
I’ve seen church leaders side with their conservative or liberal theology without really applying Biblical Principal to their Voting Guides(On either side). Some have even chosen not to vote, as they shut their Bibles and ignore the fact that “His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,” 2 Peter 1:3.
One article, that was really convicting, helped me realize that I wasn’t alone in what I was wrestling with. Check it out here: The Reflection of a King by Chuck Hooten. It made me realize that if we really want to enable a culture of entitlement, we have to come to grips with what we are actually sowing. More than ever, self-awareness has blurred our vision and tickled our fantasy of reaping life when we sowed death.
Here is where it all changes. Have you ever thought about the “What if’s”, not the one’s on FOX News or NPR, but the one’s that show what God’s Heart is concerning people despite their worldly titles . . . Ready?
What if Hillary became a Christian?
What if Trump was actually a Christian?
What if every Christian humbled themselves and prayed? Would God actually answer?
Paul, in encouraging young Timothy asked him to do one thing,
1 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time,
Paul the Apostle, 1 Timothy 2:1-5
When it comes to President Obama, have you thanked God for him? Or is that unbiblical? How could you ever be thankful for someone who helped a church planter’s girls have their first doctors visit in 6 months since he couldn’t afford to purchase healthcare elsewhere? Have you prayed that God would touch his heart and that he would begin to follow Jesus as close as you are? Have you prayed for your future president? That they would come to the knowledge of Christ?
Christian, it is good and acceptable in the sight of the Lord for you to pray for the current and future president. For all those in the Senate and Congress, for all those in positions of leadership, and for your local government. Why? Because God desires all men and women to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. For this is why he appointed Jesus to come and be the mediator between God and Man, the Man Christ Jesus, who was nailed to the Cross as a ransom for all your conservative and liberal friends.
I love you, and I hope this helps you realize that a quiet and peaceable life is fueled by a prayerful life. God Bless.
